You land in Tahiti keen to surf, but without a board under your arm? Good news: renting a surfboard in Tahiti is simple, affordable, and requires zero logistics if you pick delivery straight to the spot. Here is how it works, and how to choose well.
Why rent rather than travel with your board?
Flying with a board often costs more than renting one on site, with the risk of finding it broken on arrival. Renting also means you can switch boards depending on the conditions: a longboard on a small day, a shortboard when it picks up. Above all, it means travelling light.
Delivery on the spot: the real comfort
At Tahiti Surf Rent, your board comes to you in the parking lot of your chosen surf spot on the East Coast: Pointe Vénus, Ahonu, Orofara, Rocky Point, La Baie, or Rivermouth. No roof racks, no trips back and forth to the shop. Delivery is free, as is pickup at the end of your session. During the week, delivery is also available in Papeete, on Avenue Prince Hinoï. How much does a rental cost?
Our rates are designed to keep surfing accessible to every budget: from 2,000 xpf for a two-hour sunset or weekend session, with half-day (4 h) and full-day (8 h) options. For several days, ask for a quote: rates decrease with length. Wax and leash are included with every rental. See the full adult and kids grid in the Rates section.
Which board should you ask for?
- Beginner or gentle comeback: a foam board, stable and reassuring
- Mellow gliding: a Malibu or a longboard
- Experienced surfer: a shortboard for punchier sessions
- Bodyboard or bodysurf: gear and fins provided
