Think surf in Tahiti and you think Teahupo'o. Yet the east coast, between Mahina and Papenoo, is the locals' real playground and the best place to learn or progress: black-sand beaches, varied waves and far fewer people in the water. That is where we deliver our boards, free of charge.

Ahonu: your first wave

A black-sand beach in Mahina with gentle waves: the ideal spot for a first time, and perfect for families. A webcam even lets you check the conditions before leaving, from our Today's conditions section.

Orofara: our weekend headquarters

A friendly point break with a laid-back vibe, where you meet every generation. Accessible from beginner+ level, it is where we love spending our weekends.

Rocky Point: to progress

More technical lefts and rights depending on the swell. An intermediate spot, perfect when you start looking for waves with more length and power.
On the east coast, there is room for everyone in the line-up.

La Baie: room for everyone

A long black-sand beach in Papenoo with several peaks. When a spot is crowded, La Baie almost always offers a free wave. Beginner+ level.

Rivermouth: the star of the east coast

The mouth of the Papenoo river produces a consistent, powerful wave for experienced surfers only. It is the reference for local forecasts, and a show in itself from the beach on big-swell days.
